Hello friends!
I finally have news about our staff outreach plans. We're going to…
…Indonesia! 🎉
Three other guys and I will be going to the island of Lombok from November 28th to December 25th. Our goals are to serve the local people and share the good news, but also to make connections so that we can send teams there with future schools. Until now, we’ve only been able to send teams to Bali, as those were our only contacts. We want to move a bit out of the tourist area and go to more rural parts of the country, like for example Lombok.
A bit more information on Lombok and Indonesia:
(skip this paragraph if you're not interested)
Indonesia is the largest island country in the world, with a total of 17,500 islands. Its 270 million people make it the fourth-most populated country in the world, and it currently has the largest Muslim population in the world. Due to its geographical location, Indonesia is home to many different cultures, religions, and ethnicities. Lombok, located directly east of Bali, apparently has breathtaking nature, including Indonesia's second-highest (and active) volcano. The local population is very friendly and primarily consists of the Sasak ethnic group, who predominantly practice Islam. Islam shapes much of the island's cultural life, especially with its mosques and religious festivals. Besides Islam, there are also Hindu and Buddhist minorities, mostly found in the cities. The Christian community on Lombok is relatively small.
The culture there is said to be quite strong, compared to the more tourist-oriented Bali.
Now for the financial side of things. I still need approximately 1,460 USD for this outreach. This is just an estimate, but hopefully a good one.
Here’s how it breaks down:
333$ for the flight there
~400$ for the return flight
40$ for the visa
~400$ for accommodation and some meals
~90$ for extra food
~135$ for transportation
~25$ for ministry costs (e.g., bubbles for kids, gifts…)
35$ reserve
Additionally, we will spend three days in Bali upon arrival before heading to Lombok, and we’ll also spend at least one night (Christmas) in Bali before our return flight. These costs aren’t included here as we aren’t sure yet what they might be. As mentioned, these are all just estimates. Reality can always differ for better or worse, but I think this budget puts us in a good place.
If you'd like to help finance this outreach, feel free to reach out to me or access my Wise and bank details HERE. I’m grateful for any support. And, of course, donations for the other guys in the team are welcome too! 😋
If you know someone who might be interested in supporting this outreach, feel free to share this message with them.
If you’d like to support us but don’t have the means to do so financially, I really invite you to join my PRAYER CHAT. I’ll send updates and prayer requests there as often as possible.
See ya; a regular newsletter should be coming soon too.
